Method 1: Download Directly from Google Docs (Easiest)
- Open your document in Google Docs
- Go to File → Download → PDF Document (.pdf)
- The PDF downloads immediately to your device
This is the fastest method and gives excellent results. The PDF matches what you see in Google Docs exactly.
Method 2: File → Print → Save as PDF
- In Google Docs, go to File → Print (or press Ctrl+P)
- In the printer dropdown, select Save as PDF
- Click Save
- Choose where to save the file
This method gives you additional control — you can select specific pages, choose paper size, and adjust margins before saving.
Method 3: Download as Word, Then Convert to PDF
If you need the PDF to go through specific conversion settings:
- File → Download → Microsoft Word (.docx)
- Go to iloveconvert.in/convert/word-to-pdf
- Upload the .docx and convert to PDF
Use this when the direct Google Docs PDF export has formatting issues with complex tables or specific fonts.
Why Convert Google Docs to PDF?
- Recipients without a Google account cannot edit or access shared Google Docs (depending on permissions)
- PDF looks identical across all devices — Google Docs can render differently on different browsers
- PDF is the required format for most official submissions, job applications, and formal reports
- PDF prevents accidental editing by recipients
Google Docs on Mobile
On iPhone or Android, open the document in the Google Docs app:
- Tap the three dots (⋯) menu
- Share & export → Save as → PDF Document
- The PDF saves to your device
Alternatively, open docs.google.com in your mobile browser and use Method 1 above — the mobile browser download works on both Android and iPhone.
