Important: Converting JPG to PNG Does NOT Create Transparency
This is a very common misunderstanding. If you simply convert a JPG to PNG, you get a PNG file — but the background is still the original background (white, blue, or whatever was in the photo). PNG supports transparency, but converting the format does not remove any background.
To get a transparent background, you need to remove the background first, then save as PNG.
The Correct Process: Background Removal + PNG
- Go to iloveconvert.in/remove-bg
- Upload your JPG image
- AI automatically removes the background
- Download as PNG — the background is now transparent
This gives you a PNG with a truly transparent background that shows whatever is behind it when placed in any design.
When You Just Need Format Conversion (No Transparency)
If you want a PNG without transparency — for example, for a platform that requires PNG format but you are fine with the original background:
- Go to iloveconvert.in/image-convert
- Upload your JPG
- Select PNG as output format
- Download
Use Cases for PNG with Transparent Background
- Logo on websites — place on any background color without a white box
- Product photos for e-commerce with transparent background
- Profile photos for presentations with custom backgrounds
- Stickers for WhatsApp, Instagram stories, and Telegram
- T-shirt and merchandise design — subject without background for printing
File Size After Transparent PNG
Transparent PNGs are generally larger than JPGs. If you need a smaller file with transparency, download as WebP instead — it supports transparency and is 30% smaller than PNG.
